Summary:
The protesting woman orders the mob to stop attacking Nayuta, and even though the girl killed someone under her control, they shouldn’t be so quick to resort to such animal behavior. Nayuta notices Barem reaching for his gun and tries to pull the trigger, only to find that he’s out of bullets. He pulls a gun to his head and pretends that Nayuta is trying to get him to kill himself, reigniting the crowd’s fury.
A flashback appears showing Nayutu being led to her house by Denji. She wonders why she feels sorry for the man, or rather his heart. Using her chains, she learns about her past as Makima and how her goal was to disrupt Denji’s private life to wake up the man with the chainsaw. Nayuta realizes that by destroying this peaceful life, as well as her past self, she will realize who she really is. We then see different parts of the two’s apartment and all the activities they did together, as well as Nayuta and Denji playing with the dogs, the former visibly enjoying it. Finally, the two are shown lying together, with Nayuta calling him stupid and wayward, but also a student and a man with a chainsaw. She asks him what makes her do this, and Denji answers by calling her family. However, he is interrupted by another voice; his own.
The image of a younger Denji mocks his current idolization of the concept of family, considering how he’s discarded it time and time again to be Chainsaw. He then reminds his current self that he murdered his own father, ending the dream. We are then shown Denji lying in a hospital room, leaving it unclear how much of Nayuta’s thoughts were real.
