Summary:
The chapter opens with Asa being cornered by Yoshida, who has disarmed her and is about to deliver the killing blow. But before he can, the church members around them begin to transform into chainsaw devils. This phenomenon is happening all over the world, as Nayuta explains to Denji.
The fire devil that the church members have a contract with is able to strengthen his suppliers by increasing the number of contracts he has. Therefore, a mass wedding ceremony was held in the church so that they could contract as many people as possible with the Fire Devil.
Nayuta realizes that the church’s goal is to kill the devil of death, which is the king of terror mentioned in the prophecy. Fami, the hunger devil, also confirmed that this was her plan. He wants everyone on Earth to fear the chainsaw man and war, which will make their devils much more powerful than the devil of death.
Meanwhile, Katana Man raids a church building with an unnamed devil. However, he is quickly overpowered by the transforming members of the church. He screams out Chainsaw Man’s name in anger because he is the cause of all the chaos.
The chapter ends with a massive explosion as the chainsaw fiends start attacking everything in sight.
Chapter 146 is a major turning point in the story as it reveals the true plan of the church and foreshadows the arrival of the Devil of Death. It’s also a very action-packed chapter with some of the scariest and most over-the-top violence in the series to date.
