Summary:
Many televisions and students show Denji walking and listening to the public’s mixed opinion of the man with the chainsaw. News of the prophecy spread to the point where the students mistakenly stated that the Chainsaw Man would fight Nostradamus himself.
Denji starts brushing Nayuta’s hair after arriving home and she talks about the Church of the Chainsaw Man clashing with the police. Denji admits that he decided to give up transforming into a chainsaw man because he believes that the life he has now is not only perfect, but he doesn’t want to sacrifice her life for his own happiness. Nayuta questions the previous idea, causing him to have an epiphany later that night. While talking to Pochita, he wonders if it’s okay for him to strive for a better-than-average life, only to be interrupted by Meowy joining them.
Denji, still awake, starts channel surfing only to come across another speech given by Haruka. A member of the crowd raises numerous concerns regarding both recruitment demographics and collateral damage caused by the church. Haruka tells him that not only do they inform the city and the Ministry of Defense of their activities, but they also only recruit experienced hunters. He then goes on to say that the members must follow Chainsaw Man’s mercenaries to become members because that way they will only fight for selfless reasons. A member of the crowd questions who these tenants are before questioning their validity. Haruka replies that he received teachings directly from Chainsaw Man before offering to let him speak to the public on his own. As Haruka gets the crowd singing, Denji rushes to the phone, eager to speak to the masses, only to look back in shock as a random hunter claims to be the Chainsaw Man.
The man begins to explain his origin story; that his body is half-human, half-devil, and this gained his power after a clash with the Devil of Justice. He then explains that the reason he fights is to “rid the world of demons”. As Denji begins to explain his motives in biblical terms, he yells at the television, waking Nayuta from her sleep. He then goes on a rant stating that he never did what he did for any end goal and that people started calling him Chainsaw Man in recognition of his accomplishments. Nayuta comforts Denji when he collapses in front of the TV.
