Summary:
Denji and his date proceed to stare eachother down, only for the latter to rush at him with her bat. However, instead of striking him, she throws it towards one of the fallen men of the ground, who appeared to be holding a gun. Picking it up, the date notes how it’s only a model, though stating that it makes sense that they couldn’t afford real ones. Confused, Denji asks if she’s actually his enemy, as despite her defending him, she was singing whilst he was being attacked. Yoshida answers for her, saying her name is Fumiko Mifune and that she’s his “junior.” Fumiko then reveals she’s actually part of the Tokyo Special Division 7 for Public Safety, and that she’s been assigned to be his high school bodyguard, despite being 22 years old.
Denji repeats his question about the karaoke attack, to which Fumiko admits she can’t help stop singing mid-song. Denji lashes out in anger, only for Yoshida to explain that his fame as Chainsaw Man naturally means he needs some form of protection, implying this group of men were sent after him by someone who knows his secret identity. Fumiko swoons over Denji’s strength in his human form, to which he replies that she’s probably only flirting with him as part of the job. Fumiko disagrees, stating that she does actually really like him; after all, he is the one and only Chainsaw Man. Yoshida then gently hits Fumiko to reprimand her for not taking her job seriously, before reaffirming that Denji will never have to fight again.
Elsewhere, Asa and Yoru are watching a news report on their latest activity as Devil Hunters. Asa is enjoying that she’s being considered beautiful, whilst Yoru is enjoying the general fame and glory coming from their duty. Asa reiterates that they’re doing this to save Chainsaw Man, only for Yoru to correct her with her own contradictory goals, also admitting it’s frustrating her that Chainsaw Man was also able to experience the same happiness. Slurring her words, Asa lies that she feels creeped out by the mass amount of fame, as to her it’s just a breach of her privacy. Yoru gives her a look of confused disbelief, only for Asa’s facade of worry to drop as she can’t help but smile at the news story.
In an alley, Denji is looking at a Chainsaw Man Church recruitment poster, baffled by the inclusion of Asa, only for a stranger to note how he seemed annoyed by the inclusion of some nobody next to Chainsaw Man. Denji asks why the man is talking to him, only for him to reveal that although they don’t remember each other, the two have met before. Denji asks him who he is again, only for the man to reveal that he’s the Sword Hybrid from the fight against Makima and Tokyo Special Division 5. Still clueless, Denji asks himself who the hell Sword Man is.
