Chainsaw Man, Chapter 147

 Summary:

Barem mockingly applauds Nayuta and confirms her theory, referring to her as the “former Maki”. Barem tells Denji that he needs to become “wild” again and that he can’t let Denji back out of being a Chainsaw. He suddenly shouts into the air that Chainsaw Man has given him an epiphany: Nayuta is a witch. He demands that the mob of pseudo-motor people behind him kill Nayuta and they all obey and rush her. However, before they can harm her, Quanxi arrives and promptly cuts off all of their heads. He quickly picks up Nayuta, Denji, and Fumiko and effortlessly carries them away from the Bar. When Fumiko calls her name in confusion, she simply replies “uh-huh.” With all three in his arms, Quanxi jumps off the roof of the building and falls to the road below. In the air, Quanxi bites into Fumiko’s exposed midriff, holding some blood in his mouth. When she hits the ground, both of her legs are immediately broken, but she swallows Fumiko’s blood and instantly regenerates. The noise alerts a mob of people with a pseudo-chainsaw and they attack the four. Quanxi lays down the group and again cuts through the crowd effortlessly in less than a second. She and Barem look at each other and Barem compares her to a “manga character come to life.”
Meanwhile, Denji, Nayuta, and Fumiko watch the ensuing chaos as the public and private Devil Hunters battle the pseudo-Chainsaw humans. A group of Public Safety Hunters begin lining up the bodies of the converted Church members on the road before building a fire and burning them. A police car nearby reports that there has been a demon outbreak and asks anyone who has passed the demon extermination test to help fight the pseudo-chainsaw people. As Quanxi and the group watch the fire, a nearby public security agent questions whether cremation of the bodies is necessary. Another agent replies that anyone transformed can be revived by pulling the trigger if they have blood, and that burning them is the easiest way to ensure permanent death. Suddenly, an old man nearby points to Denji and starts shouting that he recognizes him as “the chainsaw advisor”.
